IOM Carries Out Scoping Mission to Kartsakhi Green Border

Under the EU funded More for More project 3.2 million Euros is being invested in four sections of the green border between Georgia and Turkey. IOM is supporting the intervention with procurement and logistical support for training Border Police officers.

IOM previously carried out scoping missions to Sarpi, Kirnati and Vale and on 10 May 2016 carried out the final visit of the four to Kartsakhi in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region of Georgia. IOM’s Border Management Specialist based in Tbilisi was briefed on the challenges being faced including the irregular movements that have been attempted in recent months by a range of different nationalities and how the EU investment in surveillance and communication equipment will enhance operational effectiveness.
