The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has now completed two and a half years of implementation of the EU-funded project “Reinforcing the Capacities of the Government of Georgia in Border and Migration Management” (More for More). The primary goal of the project is to assist the Georgian authorities in implementing the Visa Liberalization Action Plan (VLAP) and in dealing with the challenges posed by the management of border and migration flows. Following confirmation that Georgia successfully met the benchmarks under the VLAP and the ensuing official endorsements by the EU, preparations are now underway for Georgian citizens with biometric passports to be able to travel visa-free to the Schengen area for visits of up to 90 days. The significant achievements in meeting the benchmarks must also be viewed alongside the continuing efforts under the More for More project to improve border and migration management in Georgia.
