IOM Supports Organization of Forum on Diaspora Issues in Tbilisi

 

Under the EU-funded More for More Project IOM supported Forum on Diaspora Issues organized in Tbilisi on 27 May 2017 in close cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. The aim of the annual forum is to strengthening relations with Georgian diaspora.

This year the Forum was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mr. Mikheil Janelidze and was attended by the President of Georgia Mr. Giorgi Margvelashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili. Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia addressed the participants of the forum.

The forum focused on the following topics:

  • Role of diaspora in public diplomacy and media;
  • Diaspora and economics;
  • Cooperation in education and science;
  • Youth, sport and culture

The issues discussed during the forum will be further reflected in the activities of the Government of Georgia.
