IOM Trained 24 Revenue Service Officers in Secure Document and Forgery Examination

Under the EU funded "Enhanced Cooperation for Secure Borders and Safe Migration" IOM trained 24 officers from the Revenue Service of Georgia in Secure Document and Forgery Examination.
The training course was held in Tbilisi from 23-25 September 2014 at the Academy of the Ministry of Finance and was attended by officers from the border check points at Sadakhlo (with Armenia), Red Bridge (with Azerbaijan) and Kazbegi (with the Russian Federation).
Document examination expert Ian Fotheringham explained a comprehensive range of key issues such as paper security, printing techniques as well as counterfeiting of genuine documents.  He also explained techniques for the identification of impostors - persons travelling across international borders using travel documents issued to other persons.
