PLURAL+ 2016 Call for Entries Now Open

PLURAL + is a youth-produced video festival which encourages young people to explore migration, diversity and social inclusion, and to share their creative vision with the world.

PLURAL+ award winners are invited to New York to present their work at the Awards Ceremony, with opportunities for professional development, co-productions, and international exposure through the PLURAL+ distribution network.

Georgian Forensic Document Examiners Visit France

Under the EU-funded project “Reinforcing the Capacities of the Government of Georgia in Border and Migration Management” IOM organized a study visit to France from 17-19 May 2016 for six forensic document examiners from the Forensic-Criminalistic Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.  Although possessing established expertise in document examination the experts had never previously had exposure to the factory production of secure documents such as passports and the production of security paper used in banknotes. 

IOM Completes Fifth Document Security and Fraud Training Course

14 - 15 April 2016

Under the EU-funded More for More project, IOM’s Border Management Specialist Mark Richmond provided document security and fraud training for 20 officers from the Revenue Service at Sarpi border checkpoint in Adjara. This is the fifth such course delivered under the project that has been specifically targeted at Revenue Service officers with responsibility for operating the frontline immigration control for heavy good vehicles and medium sized commercial vehicles. 

Contingency Planning Workshop

18 March 2016, Tbilisi

Under the EU-funded More for More project IOM hosted a workshop in Tbilisi on 18 March 2016 aimed at initiating a plan for a migrant surge at Georgian borders. The workshop was organized in recognition of Georgia's proximity to current areas of conflict but also taking account of the reactive rather than planned response that has taken place in other countries when faced with such a surge.  

Fifth Annual Women in Policing Conference

On 1- 4 March 2016 the US Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), organized Women in Policing Regional Conference. This year marked the 5th anniversary of the conference that had taken place in Tbilisi, Georgia every year since 2012. The conference consistently aimed at professional advancement, career development empowerment of women in police.
