INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MIGRATION INAUGURATES SOCIAL ENTERPRISES

Tbilisi, 25 September 2015 - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) will hold the Inauguration Event at the Radisson Blu Iveria hotel to present six Social Enterprises established this year as part of the programme: “Socio-Economic Integration Through Social Enterprise Development to Address the Problem of Drug Abuse Among Georgian Nationals Including Returning and Potential Migrants”.  

The Social Enterprises’ Inauguration Event will be honoured by the presence of the Minister of Justice, as well as senior representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Corrections, Ministry of Education and Science, the Center for Mental Health and Prevention of Addiction, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, the National Probation Agency, the Swiss Embassy in Georgia, Chief of IOM Mission to Georgia, and representatives of Georgian governmental and non-governmental agencies working on issues relating to health, drug demand reduction, penitentiary and social integration of vulnerable migrant populations.

On World Day against Trafficking in Persons, IOM calls for renewed commitment against exploitation and trafficking

GENEVA, JULY 30, 2015 – Citing a new study, “Addressing Human Trafficking and Exploitation in Times of Crisis,” International Organization for Migration Director General William Lacy Swing called the exploitation and trafficking of victims, a growing phenomenon in a world awash in conflict and natural disasters.
